This is a specification-based editorial assessment, not a claim of laboratory testing. Reolink lists a 1/2.7-inch sensor, 3840×2160 output at up to 25 frames per second and a fixed 2.8 mm lens. That combination makes most sense where broad context matters more than optical reach.
The 4K stream can preserve useful detail across a driveway or garden, but placement still determines whether a face or plate occupies enough pixels. For a narrow gate or a subject far from the mounting point, choose a narrower lens or varifocal camera instead of relying on digital zoom.
H.265 is welcome because Reolink documents a 4096–8192 Kbps main-stream range. At the default 6144 Kbps, continuous recording is roughly 66 GB per day before overhead, so a multi-camera system needs deliberate retention planning.
Person, vehicle and animal classification can reduce nuisance alerts, while PoE removes the uncertainty of exterior Wi-Fi. Isolate the camera network, use unique credentials and verify recorder compatibility for events—not only live video—before buying several units.
A strong-value fixed camera when a wide 2.8 mm view suits the scene and storage is sized for 4K.
