Where Reolink RLN8-410 fits
The RLN8-410 is designed to make a small system straightforward: connect compatible PoE cameras to the recorder, attach a monitor and manage recording from one interface. Reolink's current specification documents eight PoE inputs and H.264/H.265 streams.
The important limit is not only eight channels. Synchronous playback is documented at up to four channels, so investigators who routinely review every camera at once should decide whether that is acceptable before purchase.
Storage uses one internal SATA interface with capacity up to 12 TB in the cited hardware specification, plus eSATA. A single-bay design cannot provide internal disk redundancy; critical clips still need controlled exports elsewhere.
Basic third-party streaming may work in mixed systems, but smart detections, playback and firmware workflows are strongest when recorder and cameras share the same ecosystem. Verify the exact camera list rather than assuming ONVIF makes every feature portable.
An approachable recorder for a Reolink-centred system, provided one internal drive bay and four-channel playback meet the brief.
